Part of being a licensed three-tier distributor is staying on top of compliance and finances. It’s a tough job. Luckily, we have an amazing team in place to manage those processes. The head of that team is Scott Naylor, LibDib’s Sr. Director of Finance and Compliance.
What do you do for LibDib? I work on the finance and accounting team, but I am also heavily involved in LibDib’s compliance and tax filings (among many other things). You know, all of the fun stuff!
What is your background? I have been in alcohol and wine distribution for over 10 years now. I began working for a large accounting firm but quickly realized my passion was for wine. I was lucky enough to work for a distributor who represented some of the best wineries in the world. That job allowed me to grow my professional experience and knowledge of the industry, which I was able to bring to LibDib. I have been here for almost 4 years now.
What brought you to LibDib? I grew up working in vineyards and I helped out at wineries as well. I quickly realized that the smaller wineries and distilleries put their hearts and souls into their products, but can’t always enter the markets. There’s a tough barrier to entry and I love the idea that LibDib gives these Makers greater access to markets.
What’s your favorite part about working at LibDib? I can’t really pick just one part. We work with some incredible Makers who are creating some of the best wine and spirits. I love that they have the ability to sell their product using our platform, and I love learning about their craft and passion. We also have an amazing team here. The LibDib platform is an amazing work of art that the team has built. We also have an amazing support team that will do anything to help our Makers and buyers succeed. It’s never boring, maybe sometimes hectic, and our team really makes it fun!
If you could have a drink with one person in all of history who would it be and what would be your libation of choice? My grandfather. I never met him but he lived an amazing life that took him all over the world. I could imagine him sharing some great stories over a glass of bourbon or scotch, his drinks of choice.
What do you do for fun? Most of my free time is spent with my wife and son. My son keeps me pretty busy. Besides that, I spend most of my time wine tasting with my friends and watching or playing sports.
